Determining Groundwater Drought Relative to the Opening of a River Barrage in Korea

Groundwater droughts are one of the natural disasters that raise serious water issues for humans, and increasing in frequency due to global climate change. In order identify groundwater droughts, we recorded level fluctuations upstream at Changnyeong-Haman River barrage from May 2012 October 2020, based on characteristics Nakdong stages. Next, grouped levels by K-means clustering, converted kernel density estimation (KDE), calculated a standardized index (SGLI). Finally, judged drought using SGLI values corresponding opening closing barrage. study area, criteria discriminating were −0.674 (caution), −1.282 (severe), −1.645 (very severe), respectively, 25th, 10th, 5th percentiles.
